      Hi folks!

So we’ve been busy working on our single and cannot wait to be able to show you our debut music video that we have been working on with our label, Fuelled By Cider.

Just before Christmas we went to The Fuelled By Cider Studio to record our single with James. We had a great day and managed to get the track down in one day!

Here is a little video of the day –

Since then we’ve also had an amazing day filming the video at The Butler in Reading which, although it was FREEZING COLD, was really fun and an awesome new experience for us all. We’ve like to say a big thanks to all the Fuelled By Cider boys for helping us to push our sound to a wider audience and we’re really looking forward to working with them on the album and moving forward into 2016!

Here is a screen shot from the video –

We are all really excited to get this done and to you all as soon as possible! KEPP YOUR EYES OPEN!!!

      meet-josh

As some of you may have seen from our Facebook posts over the last few days there is a new face in the band.

Meet Josh Bayton (AKA Beethoven). He’s far more fresh faced than the rest of us but can give and take banter like a pro. Joining us on bass, Josh, studies music at ACM and is full of enthusiasm!

We are all really happy to have him on board and are looking forward to getting down to some serious work over 2016!

      Recording our single

So yesterday we had the pleasure of spending the day at The Fuelled By Cider Studio with James recording our new single. I think it’s safe to say that we had an awesome day and really enjoyed the DIY feel! James knew exactly how to work with us and did a great job.

The day started with a few hangovers, as our recording days usually do! But once we finally found the studio in deepest, darkest Somerset we were very happy to get to work. The day went very smothly and we came away with something we were happy with. It was a long day but more than worth it! Although it was a long day for us all we’d like to make a special mention to our new drummer Rob for filling in on bass last min and smashing it!

Then it was time to find some food… So we took to the road, down the EXTREMELY dark lanes and after at least 300 left turns, getting stuck in a very large puddle for a moment and honestly feeling like we were in the beginning of an awful 2 star horror movies we found a lovely little pub called “The Bell Inn“. Food was great and the staff were very welcoming, if you can find the place we strongly suggest you stop in for a bite!

So now it’s time to move onto all the technical bits and bobs of making everything sound sweet and we’ll be back to you with some tasters before the release in the new year!

Fish Hook sign to Fuelled By Cider Records

Fish Hook are excited to announce that they will be working with the new Fuelled By Cider record label in 2016 to release our debut album! We have been happily playing shows with them since Outcider Festival 2014 and love their DIY attitude. You’ll be able to catch our Energetic Punk’n’Roll at many of their events, such as The Cursus Cider & Music Festival, over 2016 but before 2015 is out we shall be taking to the Fuelled By Cider studio to record a single ready for a video shoot in January.

We cannot wait to get working with all the guys at Fuelled By Cider at working to bring you a great debut album!

    • Summer 2015 update

      Posted on: June 12, 2015

Time goes on and this website doesn’t get enough attention! We’re not dead, we’ve just been busy!

So a lot has happened since… December! We’ve gigged all over and we’ve slowly, but surely, decided it’s time to start working on an album (more to come about that in the near future). We’ve also booked up our festivals for the summer and are really excited to be out playing in the sun again, even if the black and red thing doesn’t really fit well with that scenario!

This year we have Basingstoke Live on the main stage, we return to Outcider festival on the main stage for that Fuelled By Cider lot and take up far too much of everyone’s time with TWO sets at Rebellion Festival! That’s right, they only went and booked us for an acoustic set as well us the full band noise! You’ll be able to catch us on the Almost Acoustic stage on the Thursday evening before seeing us on the Pavilion stage on the Friday afternoon.

We’ve also been busy talking to a party about the future of Fish Hook but news on that is currently “Top Secret” so you’ll have to keep checking back to find out more.

      Big love,
      Jim

Oh dear… It would seem that we have neglected our website a little bit!

What’s been happening you ask? SO, SO, SO much! We’ve been gigging all over the place, we’ve played The O2, Oxford and supported SPUNGE at The Bowery just to name a few things!

For those who don’t know we now have a great new t-shirt for sale designed by the very talented Bob Rimington, thank you Bob!

Being December it would be wrong for me not to mention the fact that it is… The last month of the year, of course! We have our last show coming up this Saturday (13th) at The White Hart Inn, Basingstoke with a host of great acts! We are joined by Burnt Tomorrow, The Dirty Skankin’ Love Hornets and The Lion and the Wolf and this is NOT a show to miss!

So that’s that… If we don’t see you on the 13th December we’ll see you in the New Year! (Where we have lots of great things planned)

      Big love,
      Jim

Blissfields, Basingstoke Live, Music on The Meadows, FemRock and Outcider Fest!

That’s what we’ve been up to since the last update on here. So much to say about each of these events that it’s hard to sum up in a little update but I’ll try.

As always Blissfields was accommodating and Brilliant! Staff friendly as can be, great crowd and great bands. Jim threw up on Jager, Jay got messy on gin and Ross went home. Pretty standard really!

Basingstoke Live was amazingly cool, the stage was black out with a circus of horrors theme. We all got dressed up in make-up and costumes and stormed the stage, in return the crowd went mental and we all had a lot of fun.

Music on the Meadows was very chilled and relaxed, the music was totally organised by young teens in the local music scene and they did a smashing job of putting together a great bit of entertainment.

FemRock and Outcider Fest… MY GOD! What a back to back double header of a weekend! Everyone over at FemRock (Brighton, Green Door Store) were fantastic, the venue was one of the most basic set ups we’ve played this year and probably the best at the same time! Nothing fancy about the venue, just a great bunch of people and great bands to boot!

Outcider on the other hand… WOW! What a great site they had! This festival was based on a farm not far out of Bristol with stages in two large farm sheds. The stages ran back to back meaning you never had to miss a band, the team there were on the ball while keeping a very laid back attitude towards the whole event and it was certainly the smallest and most fun festival I (Jim) have been to this year! Not a bad word to be said about this one!

So there’s a little bit about what we’ve been doing, there will be a video or two coming up in the next few weeks to document the whole lot to some extent and we’ll also be giving you and update of what’s to come for the rest of the year!

      Cheers, Jim

BLISSFIELDS!! That’s right, we are all ramping up for our weekend at Blissfields Festival starting, for some of us, this Thursday!

Last year we were fresh faced and new on the festival scene but this year we go back with a summers worth of experience and a banging new set! Not to mention a slightly altered line up. This year the nice folks at Blissfields have given us the chance to strut our stuff a little higher on the bill so we should be playing when you are all awake and curing the hangovers with more booze. It’s been a while since I, Jim, broke our last website by fooling around like the little web developer I am… BUT NOW… We have a shiny new one! I promise to keep this one more up to date than the last with blogs from other band members, loads of media and just generally more stuff, because we all like stuff!

      Big love, Jim
